Flash games websites

Hi guys, with it being the last week of term alot of staff are allowing kids free choice during ICT. I run a club also at lunch for the kids to basically play games and socialise. However, alot of the games they are playing are pretty inappropriate (bludgening kitty cats and such! 8O) and thus i've had to filter them.

 

Anyway, does anyone have any good game sites that would be appropriate for Primary School children. Most of the ones I thought were ok appear to have been blocked by the LEA now. Any suggestions would be great, thanks!

One that did the rounds in one of my schools last year was Turkey Shooter - I'm not exactly sure myself what it is, but I know several of the teachers and most of the kids found it extremely funny! And it's festive :-)

We try to discourage shooting games. However it's difficult to enforce as a lot of them are on the same websites as other games which the kids enjoy and are ok to play. I just end up having to block the entire site eventually as there are so many inappropriate games. Anymore suggestions would be great!

Does your filtering solution allow you to blacklist an entire site, but whitelist specific URLs? You could then make a basic HTML page with individual links to the games you allow.

 

Depending on how they're made, Flash games/widgets can sometimes be copied off the game website and used locally on your network, which is a handy bandwidth saver.

Yes it does. I never thought of doing that. Might give it a go and see how it works as there were a bank load of games that used to be available but have since been filtered out. The kids will worship me for bringing back their beloved games! Haha. Cheers
