Profiles - Google Cache in APP Data

Hi,

 

Having a browse through the profiles of the staff I noticed that the cache folder in the app data bit of their profile is huge... the biggest one is currently 590Mb out of a profiles size of 700Mb. I have the google ADMX installed but must be missing something. I did manually delete these before but it ruined the profile altogether..

 

How do you guys handle caching in Google... am I missing the setting somewhere.

The setting you need to enable in the ADMX is called Set disk cache directory:

 

[b]User or Computer Configuration[/b] » [b]Policies[/b] » [b]Administrative Templates[/b] » [b]Google[/b] » [b]Google Chrome[/b] » [b][color="#FF0000"]Set disk cache directory[/color][/b]

${local_app_data}\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default

 

^ Change the path to whatever you want (if you don't want to use the one above) but make sure you use Google's special directory variables rather than Windows variables like %USERPROFILE%.

I had set this previously but it cant be taking. Where have you moved it to? I am sure I tried to get it to copy to their home directory.

Under group policy (User Conf > Admin Temps > Google > Google Chrome) there is a setting for 'Set disk cache size' , I just limit this to a size you deem sensible. You can use this in conjunction with the path option above if needed. Edited May 6, 2015 by SpaceInvader83
