snagrat Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Some Apple TVs we have installed are not showing up when selecting AirPlay on an iOS device. The Apple TVs are not activated (due to proxy not being set) and not getting a time set. Would this affect it? I am planning on using a Mac to set the proxy and have asked for the Time server ports to be opened on the firewall. Our Wifi is Ruckus, nothing setup strange and a flat network.
6Foot2 Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 We have three Apple TV devices with one of them not working. We have a VLANned network. However, I do not believe that the VLANs are the issue as the iPad that will be used with the non-working Apple TV device can see the other Apple TVs. I will be sending the Apple TV device offsite, where there are no proxies required to connect to The Internet, to check if there any updates due for the Apple TV.

snagrat Posted May 5, 2015 Author Posted May 5, 2015 hi there have you allowed the bonjour to be allowed through your proxy and isa or smoothwall box as well hope this hell you out we had the same thing as well Nothing internal should be blocking the Bonjour ports. Yes we use a proxy but Bonjour should not need access to the internet does it?
Passat1983ICTech Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 I am not sure bout that we had the problem with apple TV with the air play we had to allow it to come through the on the network
snagrat Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 Activating and setting the proxy allowed AirPlay to work
jakeskillings Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 I am having a similar issue except that all our Apple TV's can be seen on the AirPlay list except for 2 Apple TV's I have just reset through iTunes. The Apple TV's are all on the latest issue and I am a bit stumped as to why the Apple TV's I have reset through iTunes will not appear in AirPlay.
