We are in the process of redirected folders to a new server. The GPO for the previous server use the basic setting and pointed everyone's folder to the same root directory. The folders created for the students folder was My Documents. On the new server, we are moving each grade level into their own folders and setting up the GPO to point to different directories based off of the security group for the user. This setting maps to a directory named Documents rather than My Documents. What's the best to hand the folder name difference? Do I have to rename the folder for all of my users? Other suggestions?

Check indside the existing my documents folder for a hidden desktop.ini file and delete it. Go ip a level and you should see the folders true name.

I did check the file names when I looked on the new server and found what looked like 2 document folders! The old files are in a folder named "My Documents" (displayed as documents). The new folder created is named "Documents". I believe if I just rename the folders, it will map to the correct location but I don't really want to have to do that for all of the users and in turn for the other items such as pictures, videos, music, etc.

Just wanted to post a quick update. Created a new GPO with the same settings as above the and folder redirection is mapping as expected. Didn't really do anything different, so I don't why the first one was different.
