I am trying to set polices for google chrome through regedit however the polices do not go onto chrome.

 

 

 

I have added a screenshot to show what I mean.

Is this on a domain pc as you can control chrome using gpo. You can also use Google Apps for .... to control chrome settings.

 

Cant help with reg, sorry.

And no the computer are connected through workgroup and being deployed through Microsoft Intune.

 

But if gpo adds the reg files should google chrome look in there?

Unfortunately not. If the PCs aren't joined to a domain, Chrome will ignore the policies set in the registry. Google did this because adware and malware were hijacking that registry key on home PCs to forcibly install extensions (among other things).

 

Starting with Chrome 28, policies are loaded directly from the Group Policy API on Windows. Policies manually written to the registry will be ignored. See http://crbug.com/259236 for details. (Source)
