Help with Macromedia Authorware Runtime Program PLEASE

A staff member has finally relinquished a laptop that we've been trying to replace for some time....(running Windows XP!)

Copied all the usual gubbins off ready for their shiny new Windows 8 beast but we've come a cropper with a database program that has been written using Macromedia Authorware.

Staff member has had hissy fit and insisted it be installed on the new machine as it's 'the only program she knows how to use and all her research data is in it....'

We have the said program on CD and it works on the new machine with a few tweaks to get it running.

But, the problem is - where is the data stored when you use the program?!?!? On her old machine we can't find it. It doesn't look like it is stored in a file or files in the program directory or anywhere else that is obvious. A Google search talks about .a7* or .a** files etc but a search of the HDD reveals nothing. Copying the directory over from the old machine to the new doesn't work - the program runs but the database is empty.

Help much appreciated!

I used to have a program that sat in the background and then you could run a report on which files were created / updated or which registry entries had been changed when you ran a particular program but I can't remember what it was - any help on this too?

MANY THANKS!

Staff member now very happy.
