Dave_O Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Dear All I have set up a Google Apps for education tenancy but have come across the following issue when trying to use the password sync utility (GAPS). ass17 Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Sorry to but in but this isn't your only problem, if you get it working Google will not sync existing passwords but only new password changes. So every user will have change their password, wait a few seconds then change it back. I wish someone would correct me and tell me it can different
jmcdermott Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 You are right all users will have to change there password, which must be at least 8 characters. It does work if you simply change the password to the same as it currently is, eg Password123 to Password123. As for the orignal error: When you set up the google apps did you use Administrator as the main admin account, if so this now may have got confused with the Administrator account from your local domain. Try creating a new administrator on the google apps then re install the password sync using the new account for the connection details.
Dave_O Posted March 23, 2015 Author Posted March 23, 2015 Am aware of this and it occurs on password reset. The global admin Google account is different to domain admin, but also created a new account, this also gets the same error. The service authorises ok. It's just when it does the update after a password change. As a matter of interest does anyone have this working through a proxy?
rpwillis Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Hi Dave, Have you gone through the troubleshooting steps at https://support.google.com/a/answer/2622457?hl=en ? Richard
Dave_O Posted March 24, 2015 Author Posted March 24, 2015 Hi Dave, Have you gone through the troubleshooting steps at https://support.google.com/a/answer/2622457?hl=en ? Richard Yes thank you, tried all of that, hence the question about the proxy. Without this, Google Apps would be useless. Not that I'm overly concerned as we have O365 set up already by your good selves. Just interested in exploring new avenues.
Dave_O Posted March 24, 2015 Author Posted March 24, 2015 A liitle off beam but related. Do have to give a shout for Richard and the guys at Salamander. The Salamander AD provisioning integration with Office 365 is outstanding. No intervention needed when provisioning or deprovisioning of O365 accounts nor in the allocation and de-allocation of licences. Makes an old man like me a) very happy b) look good. 1
caffrey Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Do you have more than one DC ? and have you installed it on all of them ?
Dave_O Posted March 24, 2015 Author Posted March 24, 2015 Do you have more than one DC ? and have you installed it on all of them ? Yes and yes. Just wondering if there's anyone out there who is behind a proxy and part of YHGFL who has got this working?
Dave_O Posted April 5, 2015 Author Posted April 5, 2015 Interesting this one. Took out the proxy and it worked. Put it back and it still worked. Who knew! Just done single sign on with Google Apps using Azure, works fine. very easy to set up. So we now have One drive and Google docs. More online storage than you can shake a stick at. Question is... will anyone actually use it.
