Trojan Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Hi, According to this technet article: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc178995.aspx#BKMK_UpdatesFolder You can use the updates folder to deploy patches for Office 2013 at installation. As long as you rename your OCT setup customisation file so it is processed first all the other updates will be installed sequentially at the end. So far so good, this would save each system installing at least 1.4 GB of updates using windows update after install. Question is, Is there any easy way of obtaining all the required updates which can then be extracted into the required .msp files? Or have I literally got to click on each "more information" link in windows update and grab each one manually ? Thanks in advance.
computer_expert Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Have a look at WSUSOffline - it should grab most of them for you. 1
Arthur Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 (edited) I use WHDownloader (Direct Link) to download all of the latest Office 2013 updates. It also includes an MSP extractor* for extracting the MSPs from the EXEs and you can filter out the non-English updates too. Edit. There are 51 updates for the 32-bit version of Office 2013 totalling 1.70GB when extracted. http://a.pomf.se/asfsaj.png * Right-click the empty area at the bottom of the window to access the MSP Extractor. http://a.pomf.se/kvvwyp.png ^ For the Selection Mode choose Directory, then click Select Office Updates and select the folder that contains all of the updates. From the language drop-down box choose en-US then click Extract and select a folder to save the MSPs to. Edited March 23, 2015 by Arthur 1
Trojan Posted March 24, 2015 Author Posted March 24, 2015 That's awesome... Thanks so much, saved me a ton of work/headache..
Trojan Posted March 24, 2015 Author Posted March 24, 2015 @Arthur It doesn't seem to want to download the hotfixes.. any ideas why, does this work for you ? Thanks.
Arthur Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 It doesn't seem to want to download the hotfixes. Do you have a proxy? If so, it's probably due to that. To set the proxy details, right-click in the empty area at the bottom of the window, then click Proxy Settings. http://a.pomf.se/jukaeu.png You will also need to download the update lists. The easiest way to do this is to click the blue arrow button (top left). http://a.pomf.se/vlusie.png Next, select Office2013-x86 or Office2013-x64 from the Select a Category dropdown box depending upon which version of Office you are deploying, then select all of the updates you want to download and click the Download button. does this work for you? It does.
Trojan Posted March 24, 2015 Author Posted March 24, 2015 Hi, Yes I did all that, It just doesn't want to download the hotfix category. Both the general and security updates download just fine. It seems to try to download the hotfixes and it thinks it has and momentarily creates the "hotfix" folder and then as soon as the download completes the "hotfix" folder gets removed and there are no downloads for that category.
Trojan Posted March 24, 2015 Author Posted March 24, 2015 Hmm, when visting the KB article directly, Microsoft want you to supply an email address to download the hotfix file.. I wonder if this is the reason and WHDownloader cant grab the files...
Arthur Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 (edited) It has always worked for me (even for hotfixes that require an e-mail address to download through the Microsoft website). Edit. Here the direct download links for the x86 Office 2013 hotfixes. Do these download successfully? http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Microsoft%20Office%202013/sp1/gkall2013kb2760519fullfilex86glb/15.0.4615.1001/free/475381_intl_i386_zip.exe http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Microsoft%20InfoPath%202013/sp1/infopathipeditor2013kb2825679fullfilex86/15.0.4605.1000/free/474508_intl_i386_zip.exe http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Microsoft%20InfoPath%202013/sp1/ipdmctrl2013kb2825670fullfilex86glb/15.0.4605.1000/free/474503_intl_i386_zip.exe http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Microsoft%20InfoPath%202013/sp1/ipeditor2013kb2883034fullfilex86glb/15.0.4675.1000/free/480625_intl_i386_zip.exe http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Microsoft%20Office%202013/sp1/msmipc2013kb2767841fullfilex86glb/15.0.4615.1001/free/475387_intl_i386_zip.exe http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Microsoft%20Office%202013/sp1/oleo2013kb2817344fullfilex86glb/15.0.4605.1000/free/474495_intl_i386_zip.exe http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Microsoft%20Office%202013/sp1/osmdpmsi2013kb2878296fullfilex86glb/15.0.4605.1000/free/474481_intl_i386_zip.exe http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Microsoft%20Office%202013/sp1/osmiamsi2013kb2878289fullfilex86glb/15.0.4605.1000/free/474479_intl_i386_zip.exe http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Microsoft%20Office%202013/sp1/outexum2013kb2880477fullfilex86glb/15.0.4631.1000/free/476707_intl_i386_zip.exe http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Microsoft%20Office%202013/sp1/vbe72013kb2880496fullfilex86glb/15.0.4623.1001/free/476091_intl_i386_zip.exe These are the x64 Office 2013 hotfixes... http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Microsoft%20Office%202013/sp1/gkall2013kb2760519fullfilex64glb/15.0.4615.1001/free/475382_intl_x64_zip.exe http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Microsoft%20InfoPath%202013/sp1/infopathipeditor2013kb2825679fullfilex64/15.0.4605.1000/free/474509_intl_x64_zip.exe http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Microsoft%20InfoPath%202013/sp1/ipdmctrl2013kb2825670fullfilex64glb/15.0.4605.1000/free/474505_intl_x64_zip.exe http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Microsoft%20InfoPath%202013/sp1/ipeditor2013kb2883034fullfilex64glb/15.0.4675.1000/free/480624_intl_x64_zip.exe http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Microsoft%20Office%202013/sp1/msmipc2013kb2767841fullfilex64glb/15.0.4615.1001/free/475385_intl_x64_zip.exe http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Microsoft%20Office%202013/sp1/oleo2013kb2817344fullfilex64glb/15.0.4605.1000/free/474501_intl_x64_zip.exe http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Microsoft%20Office%202013/sp1/osmdpmsi2013kb2878296fullfilex64glb/15.0.4605.1000/free/474476_intl_x64_zip.exe http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Microsoft%20Office%202013/sp1/osmiamsi2013kb2878289fullfilex64glb/15.0.4605.1000/free/474480_intl_x64_zip.exe http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Microsoft%20Office%202013/sp1/outexum2013kb2880477fullfilex64glb/15.0.4631.1000/free/476700_intl_x64_zip.exe http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Microsoft%20Office%202013/sp1/vbe72013kb2880496fullfilex64glb/15.0.4623.1001/free/476092_intl_x64_zip.exe Edited March 24, 2015 by Arthur 1
