DVI lead - silly resellers!

After explicitly requesting a DVI-D to DVI-D cable, a reseller has supplied me with a DVI-I to DVI-I cable.

 

My understanding if that DVI-I supports both digital and analogue.

 

So my question is can I simply remove the four additional pins at both ends of the cable?

The long flat pin in the middle of the 4 is bigger and can cause issues, from what I've experienced
