I know a few of us run a Joomla setup in schools and wondered what spec hardware you were running it on? I have a basic setup for our Intranet that is one of our old Exchange servers, Xeon 3.06, 2gb ram. Does the job, but I need to build a new one plus a second one for a public facing website too (not our main school site).

So, I have been looking at a couple of cheap machines, something like this Lenovo ThinkServer TS140 4GB Xeon E3-1225 v3 3.2GHz Tower Server - Ebuyer and fit a pair of SSDs in there.

Thoughts?

Ours is virtualised, so this is probably going to be of little help. Windows Server 2012 64bit, 4GB RAM, Xeon 2.4Ghz, 30GB RAM, IIS8. Runs our intranet fine. The only hiccup we get is sometimes when editing a page, it goes to sleep for a couple of minutes. Users navigating between pages, don't experience this problem.

30gb ram! Just for that one server? Or is that across all the vms running?

Sorry should have been 30GB disk. It's 4GB RAM. Sausage fingers strike again!

Ha! I nearly fell of my chair! So, on par with the one I linked to then. Thank you.
