Minecraft EDU Server

Hi all

 

We've just got Minecraft EDU which we are planing to use initially as a lunch time club and wondering how others manage the server side of it - do you stick it on a vm/dedicated box and if so what sort of box (windows/linux/other?) or just have the teacher launch and manage it from their PC?

I run a minecraft club I have it on a dedicated 2012 vm, few tweaks and its runs like a dream. I run it all the time unless it gets abused then only during the club. It's very memory hungry sometime and I suspect running it on a teachers laptop may cause it to crash or tick.
