pixellip Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Hi there I'm glad I didn't roll out Yosemite to all our Imacs.......not with this continuing issue! I'm still suffering with this hanging on boot issue....has anyone made any progress on this out of interest? Apple suggested to update the macs to the latest Combo update which I did but they are all still hanging on bootup. If you boot into Safe mode then reboot it's ok...... Short of wiping them ( which I don't really want to do ) can anyone suggest anything else? I guess we are at the mercy of Apple and their updates..... Thanks
pixellip Posted March 3, 2015 Author Posted March 3, 2015 We do.......this is interesting....why do you ask Mark? Do you think it's searching for something as it's booting up?
Mark182 Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 It is, try turning off the role in the server panel and see how you get on for half a day, I had to re build our deploystudio side of things here. 1
pixellip Posted March 3, 2015 Author Posted March 3, 2015 Thanks Mark that's really helpful - no one else suggested this.
pixellip Posted March 3, 2015 Author Posted March 3, 2015 I just went back down there and took the network cable out of the Imac - but it was still hanging - which leads me to thinking is this deploy studio? I noticed that I'd set the time and date to get it time from our main timeserver - so I took that off....it's rebooted fine a few times - we shall see tomorrow ( I don't think this is the issue ).
furby Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 For the Yosemite macs that are hanging for me, pressing ALT (option key) during boot and then selecting the startup disk seems to get past it hanging. Don't know if re blessing the startup disk would have the same effect.
Huddlestone92 Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 We also suffered with this for a couple weeks, finally sorted it earlier this week with machines now all stable with no hanging. Give this a read https://jamfnation.jamfsoftware.com/discussion.html?id=12589 Search for a guy called Chris Hotte, he posted the fix in the thread. 1
pixellip Posted March 5, 2015 Author Posted March 5, 2015 Wow thanks Huddlestone......it has really irked me of late this issue.
