Absence recording and codes

We have had ongoing discussions about Absence recording and reporting at a senior level.

 

We have four schools' SIMS instances and each has, over time, been configured such that the Reasons for Absence differ between schools and the Lookup table for Staff Absence Types also differ.

 

Our aim is to bring these areas into line in order that when reporting Absence from each school we are comparing like for like (not apples and pears as we are at the moment).

 

What I would like to know is, in terms of best practice, should the Reasons for Absence defined for Cover be the same or at least a sub-set of the HR Absence Types?

Does anyone here have any thoughts on whether or not this should work?

Google docs was 'locked' However, as long as you have one set of codes for all four sites then you can compare apples with apples.
