Hi Guys,

BYOD trials are starting at our school this week and I have Office 365 licenses to dish out as part of our EES agreement, however I am struggling to get the Office 365 apps to work on a Tesco Hudl 2. Its running Kitkat, meets the specifications outlined in the office 365 apps in the play store but simply doesn't display them when browsing on the google play store.

I have logged onto google play store website on a PC and it says my device (Tesco Hudl 2) isn't compatible but doesn't say why.

Anyone else using Office 365 apps on the Hudl 2 or know why this isn't working?

Regards

Unfortunately the apps aren't compatible with the Intel Atom x86 processor in the Hudl2.

The current system requirements for Office on Android tablet are: devices of screen sizes 7 inches or larger (a device with screen size greater than 10.1 inches will require an Office 365 subscription to create and edit), with an ARM based processor and 1 GB RAM or above. Today, the Android OS version that is supported is KitKat 4.4.x. While you can use the apps on an Android tablet running Lollipop, it is not supported at this time but will be in a subsequent update. Microsoft is also committed to supporting Android devices with Intel chips via a native implementation that will be available within a quarter.

When you use the apps for personal use, core editing is free and premium features require a qualifying Office 365 subscription. When used for commercial use, you need a qualifying Office 365 subscription for editing and premium features.

Yep I just found that same article after doing some research at home tonight.

Thank-you. Hopefully it will work after Q1 then? :)

I wonder if Office online works on the Hudl 2 as a work around until then. Will have to try tomorrow.

I can't see where to join the group. It says it's private and invitation only :)

The link to join the group is in the About this community box on the right-hand side of the following page.

Once you have done that, visit each of the three links below and click the Become a tester buttons.

Wait a while for the changes to take effect (anywhere between 10 minutes to 2 hours), then install the Office apps from the Google Play Store.
