This is why automated requests need to be cracked down on. They are a menace.

There's no real recourse for false DMCA notices, other than filing counter notices. The only thing anyone can do is try and take it to civil courts but then you're risking your money on a case against someone who, usually, has a heck of a lot more money and a lot more lawyers.

 

Its getting to the state where doing business with the USA is simply not worth it for some companies - the risks involved are too high - risk of their servers being infiltrated by the FBI, NSA or whoever else. Risk of .com/.net/.org domains summarily being stolen by the FBI without any form of court process. Risk of your content being falsely DMCA'd because of faulty software or vindictive random person. Poor data protection laws. The list goes on.
