!0.7.5 Server upgrade to 10.10 (done on external HDD before cloning the internal)

Hi There, if the subject is not self explanatory what i want to do is simple.

Don't know if it will work though.

 

The ideas is to:

 

1: Clone the server hdd in Target disk mode to an external drive

2: boot a Mac from said External drive.

3: install update to 10.10.x OS then 4.0.x server

4: test (Still connected to Mac booted from external drive)

5: Clone to Server.

 

 

Possible?

 

what issue will i incur, and/or is thera a better procedure you are aware of?

Is the Mac you are booting the clone from the same age/older/newer than the server?

Same age. MacBook pro instead of mac mini.

The process all sounds ok. I normally prefer to do a clean install and migrate services and data to it though. Usually has less issues that way.
