TwoMoonsComputing Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Hi I have a MacBook Pro, that powers up, get's to the apple screen and then just cuts out. I have run diagnostics and cannot seem to find anything. I do have to mention that a student spilled a bottle of water on it. Any ideas? Thanks
abillybob Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 I do have to mention that a student spilled a bottle of water on it. There's your problem. Components that have been exposed to corrosion can do really strange things. I'd say open it up and have a look inside and just see if you can see any corrosion on the components. You can then with a bit of rubbing alcohol removed the corrosions and that MIGHT fix it. Thought it may just be easier to get a new MacBook.
difinity Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Strip it down, it's possible there is still some moisture trapped inside or the mineral deposits are causing a short. Give any stained bits a clean with IPA. I've saved a couple of laptops with this method, including one that didn't boot at all.
DalekSec Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Give any stained bits a clean with IPA. You can clean laptops with India Pale Ale? sweet! p.s I know what IPA you are really on about
synaesthesia Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 I wouldn't waste a good IPA on a Mac! Fosters instead for that. Never waste a good ale!
glen_j Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 See if it boots to recovery mode. I had similar problem turned out to be the hdd.

synaesthesia Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Sounds rather like most pints of Greene King's IPA! *spit*
southhamster Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Yeah, a pint of the other "IPA" would give you a terrible hangover. ...
