crispinw Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 You may be interested to have a look at the Suppliers Association for Learning Technology and Interoperability in Schools, which has recently been established as a working group of BESA. It's website is at http://www.saltis.org . SALTIS's purpose is to develop, on the basis of industry consensus, the interoperability specifications which many consider to be missing at the moment. We are aiming to work with BSI to ensure that our outputs are converted into formal standards; with IMS to ensure that they are compatible with global standards; and with Becta, to ensure that they are supported by free or very low cost tools and certification services to encourage a critical mass of adopters. While the detail of technical discussions needs to be pursued in a smaller group, I am keen that the wider community should be involved in influencing the broad direction of travel and would be interested in your comments, either here or on our discussion forum which can be accessed from the website. A formal statement about SALTIS will be released to the press before BETT. Crispin Weston
rpwillis Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Just tried using the link supplied which failed. Googling led to http://saltis.org/ Richard
crispinw Posted December 6, 2007 Author Posted December 6, 2007 Thanks for pointing that out, Richard. An extra full stop had made it into the link - which is now fixed. All the best, Crispin.
