kidpressingbuttons Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 After the sudden demise of our Onelan box, I have now set up Xibo which is all working nicely! However I would like to add a twitter feed to the display, but RSS doesnt appear to be working... Anyone have this working at all?
fiza Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 (edited) I haven't tried twitter but we use the RSS feed for BBC news. Works fine. I will try twitter and let you know Edited February 12, 2015 by fiza 1
IrritableTech Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Haven't twitter stopped the use of RSS? I think you need to get your RSS via another service now?
corieltauvi Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 When you're in the design area of xibo there's a Microblog option when you set up or edit an area. This has a Twitter option - our Xibo is being temperamental at the moment so I daren't test anything for you.

fiza Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 (edited) I'm working with 1.4.2. Must have removed it in the newer versions then - - - Updated - - - Followed the instructions at http://www.labnol.org/internet/twitter-rss-feed/28149/ It successfully creates the RSS feed and I can browse to it but for some reason Xibo doesn't like it. synaesthesia Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Won't that attract kids tweeting the account with naughty things?
kidpressingbuttons Posted February 13, 2015 Author Posted February 13, 2015 We have the latest version of Xibo and have found that there are modules that you can install for Twitter. Have installed those- but it is now after an API key which i will need to go and find! The account is run by the head so I think that would be dealt with pretty quick

kidpressingbuttons Posted February 13, 2015 Author Posted February 13, 2015 At the top of this page, Modules, there was an option to install Twitter and Forecast Modules which you can now see in my list.
corieltauvi Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Could be time for me to update it then I have ignored it since it was first set up. kidpressingbuttons Posted February 13, 2015 Author Posted February 13, 2015 I have generated a RSS feed for the desired twitter account but Xibo is having none of it. Have decided to use the space for other information now- pictures, praising work and birthdays!
Techie2000 Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Did anyone successfully get the Twitter app configured? I have created the access API & Secret but nothing appears to happen with the module.
fiza Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Did anyone successfully get the Twitter app configured? I have created the access API & Secret but nothing appears to happen with the module. No I gave up in the end! It was taking up too much of my time.
kidpressingbuttons Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 I did have a little play around but no RSS feed makes things difficult! Got fed up in the end and gave up.
StuartQF Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 It's been working for me with 1.7 since I configured the API info and followed this guide to make things work over SSL https://community.xibo.org.uk/t/using-tickers-and-other-external-resources-over-https/46
