reprised Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Hi guys I'm trying to troubleshoot a problem with our macs in the music dept where the internet randomly stops working - i.e safari will not load any webpages internal or external. I'm not all that great with Macs so can anyone give me some ideas on what to look for as i'm mainly a windows man. I just about know how to ping using terminal (ping to router and external addresses are fine even when safari will not load webpages). I just found out that if i go to youtube and play a video then move the position a few times and make the video rebuffer it will cause an "error occurred" and then internet stops working. I tried the same on a windows laptop connected to the same port and no problems. If i restart the Mac it starts working again The Macs are running OS X 10.5.8 and all available updates are installed. Hope someone can help
davidacland Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Hi, A quick fix might be to try an alternative browser, either Chrome or Firefox. if they are on 10.5 it sounds like they are 2007-2008 models so will be quite far past their life expectancy.
reprised Posted February 4, 2015 Author Posted February 4, 2015 Yeah they are about that age - music department run a version of sibelius that won't run if we update to a newer version. I shall try it with another browser and see if it behaves in the same way. Thanks
apeman Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 My guess would be the flash plugin is causing the issue.
