Using SVGs in Wordpress

Anyone have experience of using SVGs in a Wordpress based site? I've switched to svg from old school image maps as they don't work on iOS. However I've now got an embedded svg which works GREAT except that when the links are clicked it opens within the embedded svg - the links are to pdfs held on the site database - is there a way around this? Also, is there a straightforward way (assuming CSS?) to get a mouse hover effect enabled.

 

When they hover over the the link it shadows or something similar...

There is a Plugin called Scalable Vector Graphics. Not used it myself though.

What do you have the target attribute set to for the PDF links?

Managed to resolve the links issue by adding target="_blank" to each of the hrefs... but now I'm struggling to get it to be responsive...
