MS Server CAL required for Android devices?

Hi All

 

Just as the title says

 

We have Android (Learnpad) devices. Will they need CALs? Does it make a difference if I install an RDP app on the device? Or whether or not I access network shares or use the print server?

If the device connects to a Windows server, yes, it'll need a CAL. If it connects to an RDS server, it'll need some form of RDS CAL too - either per user or per device. Edited January 27, 2015 by localzuk

If you run Citrix to a windows server you need CALs no matter what the client, iPad, Android, Windows, Mac... It makes no difference. Also need an MS Office licence too if that's one of the apps you are offering. So in summary I agree with localZuk, you will need a CAL.

Thanks guys - confirms what I thought.

 

Only reason for an RDP session is to allow a teacher to use a tablet to interact with the display, I.e. remote control for their PC connected to the projector while they're in the room, so it's more like a "Human Input Device " than remote computing.

 

Learnpads have built in mirror to PC function, but I'd like to do it the other way around. Is there a free app for that which doesn't require an RDS CAL?
