Projector Resolution Issues

A Sanyo projector we have is in a fixed mount on the ceiling and has all of a sudden been turning on and projecting as if it's been moved back half a meter or so. The image is far too large for the screen but the projector hasn't been moved. I adjusted the resolution and positioning but once the projector had been turned off, the settings had reset. As far as I've read elsewhere, the resolution settings are supposed to be saved therefore should not reset once the projector has been switched off. Has anybody else experienced this problem with Sanyo projectors and know how to fix it?
