Wacoms and vector software

I just ordered a 'Wacom Intuos Pen & Touch small' for my own use and to show round to a few departments (Art, DT, Media). The school currently doesn't have a single graphics tablet, or even work with vector graphics AFAIK.

 

I was wondering what other people did in terms of model, availability, and usage...? Illustrator seems great but expensive. I was thinking of taking a look at Autodesk Sketchbook Pro now that all their stuff is free to schools. Any comments/suggestions welcome...

 

(Also bought myself a Wacom Inkling for home which I'm waiting for...tore open a box in excitement yesterday to discover it was my wife's delivery of hoover bags. Disappointing. Set my heart on a Cintiq when I can afford one...)
