andyturpie Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Is there anyone with a HTPC that can recommend a way to set up Kodi formally (XMBC) to play back Blu Ray I have tried numerous codec packs plus installed other players but Kodi or even WMP for that matter don't pick up the codecs. It's not urgent as I don't personally own a Blu Ray disc (although my son has one disk which I have been using to test). Just thought I would treat myself to an internal drive for my living room HTPC, even though most of my films are ripped to my NAS box.

zag Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 (edited) Pfft, who uses disks these days... Kodi can playback Blurays but only unencrypted ones at the moment (licensing issues). We can play unencyrpted ones but skip the menus until libluray can handle them. Lots of work is being done in this area though. Basically your best bet at the moment is to use an external player, or rip your blurays to a hard disk. Edited January 14, 2015 by zag 1

FannieJane Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 I've started using MakeMKV, and the process is pretty simple. To save space and make organization simpler, I used Handbrake to adjust file sizes for watching everything in full quality.
