Hi all,

We have 3 kiosk terminals in our Library that we are looking to run our library booking system on as well as general internet use. Anyone got any tips/advice when it comes to setting this up win windows 8.1, as I've not really had chance to get into win8 yet?

I was planning on creating a GP locked down domain user that logs on automatically (reason i want it on the domain, is so we can use the kiosks for marketing purposes on open days logged on with our other accounts etc), however I was wondering if anyone has any hints/tips/issues that I might find when doing this. Any strangely "microsoft named" policies that need enabling etc.

Any advise would be great.

Thanks

If you only want them to be able to use Internet Explorer, you can use this method:

Assigned access: FAQ - Windows Help

We use this for a number of kiosks and it works great. Very reliable.

After creating the standard user that you will be using on the system, login once, run desktop IE, and set any settings you need (homepage, etc. can also be done with policy of course, but not necessary if only doing a handful of machines). I would then open the metro version of IE and bring up the charms menu and open settings. From there, you can specify to always show the address bar. This is very handy for the general public. At this point, I would sign out and login as admin and follow the instructions for setting assigned access.
