DCUK6 Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Have new USB drives that did work but now will no longer work in windows 7 or ubuntu but will in 8.1 Even brand new ones out of the packaging cant be formatted by 7 or ubuntu. Any ideas? Using a different machine for each OS.
jinnantonnixx Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Wierd. In Ubuntu, type lsusb to see what USB devices are plugged in. Does it show up? Check the system messages for anything concerning USB. dmesg | grep -i usb
DCUK6 Posted January 6, 2015 Author Posted January 6, 2015 (edited) Get access denied in 7, 8.1 struggling to. Seems weird that over the christmas holiday several USB that were working arnt anymore. When i plug them in, they work for a few seconds and i can see the files. I then get locked out. Tried usb 2 and 3. Just got another out of the pack and RUFUS has managed to write windows 7 to it but have 4 doing the access denied thing. Will get the linux laptop out again to have a look. DCUK6 Posted January 6, 2015 Author Posted January 6, 2015 What do they come up as in Disk Management? Can see the partition but when you try and do anything on it you get access is denied.
