Backup Storage - Prebuilt or build in house

As per the title, how many people on here for data backup (not for virtual machine backups) buy in storage or make their own?

interested in what people use .

 

In the process of upgrading our fontline storage so need to match this with backup space, used Buffalo Terrastations previous but the performance is pretty poor (storage server and SW Raid)

but they hit a reasonable price point for what is dormant/very low access type data.

We aim to use cloud-backed storage for backup - we'll have a local file server, a local backup server, and the backup server will also be synced with Google Drive.
