Have you tried switching off the firewall to check?

Does it work as an Administrator?

I am fond of windbg for getting to the root of problems. Attach this to a process and print the first-chance exception. I've got to the bottom of several problems with this.

If you want to go down the windbg route, you'll need to load the debugger symbols. Set this system environment variable as Administrator.

_NT_SYMBOL_PATH=SRV*C:\WINDOWS\Symbols*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols

STart Python, get to the point just before things go wrong, then start windbg. From the file menu, attach to process and attach to the Python process.

From windbg's command line, type

.loadby sos clr

This loads the symbol set.

Type g in the windbg command prompt to 'go'. windbg will break at the first exception.

Typing

!pe

will print the exception.

This will normally give you the information you need.

If you're not yet at the 'correct' error, typing g will 'go' again and run until the next exception.
