Darylrese Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Hi Guys, I had smoothwall installed last week and there's a problem with HTTPS traffic on android devices. Smoothwall has been configured as a transparent proxy for mobile devices. Apple devices work fine, Windows devices need a certificate installed and Android doesn't display HTTPS websites. The following error is displayed in the android internet browser: "The sites security certificate is not trusted" and the page fails to load. How do I get around this please? Also is there an easier way to deploy the certificate to personally owned windows devices?
Tallwood_6 Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Best off posting on the smoothwall direct support forum, but there is nothing wrong with your config. You can install a public cert for the captive portal page but sadly if a user still tries to browse to a https site initially the https intercept cert still presents an issue on android / chrome unless you manually install the certificate beforehand which is a pain with BYOD.
free780 Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Unless you don't intercept https. KitKat and lollipop actually constantly warn you about a mitm ssl cert.
