Hi all

looking to buy a network drive plugged into network then configure workstations to map drives to it.

Is there any reliable devices that can do this?

Also is it possible to backup that network hard drive? or a mapped share from one of the PC?

Staff wants to keep this separate to the network and not be in server hence doing like this

thanks

I assume you are looking at NAS boxes? I'm yet to find one that doesn't support SMB shares (although now I've said, no doubt one exists). Usually you need to go through the boxes web interface to enable SMB support and create a shared folder in its file system. Once you've done that you can map the drive to any PC the same as any Windows Server network share.
