scotyboy56 Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Well I'm actually playing it now, and it's just horrible to play, it just feels so wrong! the fights look like some 1950's fight's that are clearly fake and Arno doesn't know if he wants dark hair or light brown hair. And part of his hair likes jumping around everynow and then!! But here is a picture of a floating sword!!! I would advise you to not buy this game until a decent patch has been brought out, as it will just make you hate the AC games.
X-13 Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 (edited) I would also advise not buying it... Considering the fact I'm having to download the entire game despite just having finished installing it from the disks. Le EDIT: could play for 15 minutes before it went back to loading. [Partial install, could start playing at about 15%] My FPS went everywhere between 17 and 60. Including a few sudden drops. This is on a GTX870m that was released in March this year. I know laptop GPUs aren't as powerful... but come on. Mostly stayed around 25-30 in the intro sequence. Cutscenes were wierd... one minute 60 fps, then 30, then 60 again, then 25. 3/10 - wait for the patches and gameready drivers. Edited November 14, 2014 by X-13
scotyboy56 Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 (edited) WTF!! My game just crashed! Edit: Once again crashed. It seems like it doesn't want you to escape the prison Edited November 14, 2014 by scotyboy56
X-13 Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 (edited) An update for those who care: I've been tweeking settings, currently have it on Ultra environment and textures. Soft shadows are on. No AA, AO or bloom. Runs between 28-45 fps. Tested out a synchronisation, stays at 30. That's fine for me. Especially as i don't meet minimum spec. Edited November 14, 2014 by X-13
Garacesh Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 WTF!! My game just crashed! Oh, there's a surprise. /s
X-13 Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 (edited) WTF!! My game just crashed! Edit: Once again crashed. It seems like it doesn't want you to escape the prison I got past that with no problem... However, I did have a nasty crash to desktop last night. I can't remember what I was doing, but I had to restart my computer. It crashed, but didn't stop running... It makes me laugh that I'm having less problems than the people who actually meet minimum spec... Le EDIT: Tested out different settings, have the same as before, but minimum AA and AO. I think bloom is on too. Same framerate, though some times it drops to about 22-25. Once performance patches and the game drivers are out, it should be fine. Edited November 17, 2014 by X-13
AlexB Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 The bugs and glitches aside I haven't had much trouble playing it. I've only experienced stuttering when I've been maxing out my download bandwidth with another machine at the same time (and it becomes really unplayable). However, when I'm not also downloading the game runs pretty smooth on my ancient rig (i7 970, 6GB RAM, 9800 ATI) Side note, I started an EduGeek (name:EduGeek short:EduG) club/clan/guild/whatever they call it. Throw me a join request if interested or if someone like ZH is playing I'll happily pass it over to them.

I tried to do one of the co-op missions last night and had an uncloseable box telling me how long I've been waiting. [Got to 30 minutes before I quit...]
CAM Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Never ever ever buy an Ubisoft game at launch. Ever! Takes them an age to fix stuff, even Watch Dogs I had trouble with on PC at first launch (then got it pre-owned on PS4 a month ago and it runs great).
X-13 Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 (edited) Anyone else getting a 0x60000001 error when they try to use online stuff? I keep seeing people suggesting DMZ and port forwarding, but that's standard "this is your fault not ours". Seems strange that my router would have problems with Unity and not any of the other games I've played online. [like all the other AC games and Watch_Dogs] Le EDIT: DMZ is the only thing that worked... Really not happy about this. Edited November 19, 2014 by X-13

scotyboy56 Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Just an update on AC: Unity, I had the patch last night and tbh it did nothing. I also finally completed the game, and the last Templar you kill, you supposedly kill him with your hidden blade but alas the sound of it swooshing out appears but no hidden blade. It is just terrible! (Sorry I forgot to screenshot it). In my opinion if you liked the direction they were going with AC 3 and 4 then don't even bother playing Unity.

I haven't played it in a while... I'm waiting on performance patches. AC3 and 4 were OK for gameplay. But the story was meh. It was a lot of nothing for hours then a big story dump at the end.

That is true, but then again on AC 3 and 4 I spent more time exploring the game world and stuff than actually doing the missions as it was just so nice to explore

AC4 was fun. Also pirate songs. "Windy weather, boys, stormy weather, boys, When the wind blows, we're all together, boys; Blow ye winds westerly, blow ye winds, blow, Jolly sou'wester, boys, steady she goes." I got that song 90% of the time...
AlexB Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 I'm with you on this. Black Sail was so engaging, with so many different things to do. Unity is like playing the first big island on Black Sail over and over.
blu4 Posted November 28, 2014 Author Posted November 28, 2014 I just got unity- I will need to return it. I've got dual GTX680 OC and it stutters and runs at 23-25FPS on LOW with AA and vsync off.
