[sims] Report for printing AM/PM regisers for fire drill

Heya,

 

We don't have lesson monitor at the moment we're just using AM/PM registers on SIMS to gradually move away from paper registers. Is there a report in SIMS when when the fire bell goes off reception can print all the AM/PM registers for all reg groups?

Is there any way to save this as a favourite so it's one click rather than going through the menus? Just trying to make things that little bit quicker in the event of a fire.

On the "SIMS shortcuts" panel of your home page (left hand side...click the green arrows in the top left if it's not there!) you can add a favourites panel by click the arrow to the right of applications. Click the arrow to the right of the new panel and click 'Add Internal Shortcut' and follow the menu directions to the report you mention above. This will add it as a favourite link.

 

Fire drill registers are an absolute can of worms! If you are planning to use this report I would have a plan in place for the inevitable printer malfunctions!

Please please please read the myriad threads on here about firedrill and put a proper sweep and clear routine in place.

Don't print reports when the bell goes. If you insist on a report on paper, then print it when the registers close every day, and put child safety above any green issues.

Otherwise, print a re-usable list and laminate or other trick to save paper, but you must have a procedure in place and it can't be for an admin to be printing reports.

As @vikpaw said fire reports should be printed off in the morning after the first full register list is in, if there was a fire in the server room or in one of the network areas you may not have a network to print the fire report!

I have seen reports from a couple of school fires where it has taken down the IT infrastructure but these schools did have fire reports printed out as it is standard practice.

It is worth checking your disaster recovery plan as most schools I speak to have a plan to get a MIS server running from backups on the opposite side of the site to access critical data such as student information in the event the server room is destroyed.
