dobs Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Does anyone know how to configure SIMS such that the UPRN, from the Ordnance Survey address data validation, will populate the SIMS.sims_address table? The field in the table is called "property_ref_number".
GREED Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Does the validation service not do this for you? I know that AddressBase has been introduced to all (well, available to all) vendors of MIS now.
dobs Posted November 12, 2014 Author Posted November 12, 2014 Hi Matt, We have large numbers of records created in Capita ONE suspense after import via B2B and I am looking at how this might be reduced. Examining both a test system and one of our live school systems we have noticed the UPRN is not populated for any addresses. We have traced this to the property_ref_number field in the SIMS.sims_address table. Any suggestions of things we should look into to find out how to get the UPRN into the B2B dataset would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Dobs
matt40k Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Ah B2B, I don't miss dealing with that!! I've heard rumours that the new v4 will solve alot of problems, but I wouldn't recommend holding your breath. Meanwhile, you can set SIMS to use ONE for address validation, you can also setup B2B to ping data back to schools so they can accept your changes - its another B2B\Windows Schedule Task however - aka another thing to go wrong. We found the default one messes up, something to with the county?? (don't quote me on that, it's been a while, someothing about the default one being different to ONE - which uses Royal Mail PAC - hey, it's one thing to be able to find them on a map, its another to be able to post them a letter ), if I remember right this will only valid new\amendments, they have a bulk valid patch but I'm not sure if they validates against ONE or the other one. Sure @PhilNeal will be more help
dobs Posted November 12, 2014 Author Posted November 12, 2014 Hi Graham, Within SIMS our schools are configured to use the Address Validation Service from CES. There does not appear to be any further configuration we can do regarding fields that are saved. Matt has suggested we look into using the ONE Address Validation Service option and we plan to look into this next. The funny thing is Ordnance Survey, who I believe supply Address Base, state they include the UPRN in their datasets so I am puzzled why the UPRN is not appearing in SIMS for validated addresses. Do you have any thoughts? Best wishes, Dobs
GREED Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Probably because SIMS (Capita) have not implemented UKPRN into their addressing processes. I'm only guessing here mind you.
