Well this is new

I appear to have picked up some pop up spyware in chrome, see screenshot

Im ok for cleaning these things up in Windows but where do I start in Linux?

I think it's unlikely to have hit the OS itself (though you should still have antivirus installed - never buy in to the carp that any OS is immune!) so I'd be checking what plugins/add-ons/extensions have been installed in Chrome itself.

I have removed all of the extensions but it appears to go through periods of inactivity, so it might be a while before i'm sure it has really gone.

In the folder where Chrome unpacks extensions to after they have been installed, grep the URL in popup and you might be able to find the extension responsible.
