I'm having trouble with Google Earth. I've googled the issue and came up without a working solution. I have a lab that actively uses Google Earth, the lab was imaged over the summer, and since then Google Earth has not worked for students. It just shows a black screen and no layers listed. If I log in as a teacher or an administrator, it works perfectly. After checking, I can say with certainty that nothing is being blocked by the filter.

Any advice?

Teachers are not local admins. They have some higher privileges, but they are not local admins. These PCs use the onboard graphics from Intel.

Problem with student access to the cache file?

This link shows you how to delete it but it could be your students dont have access to this directory and that lack of appropriate perms is causing the problem?

How to Delete Google Earth Cache File | eHow

Aha that just reminded me, do you redirect either pupil or staff profiles appdata directories?

It may be worth running Process Monitor and checking to see what earth is accessing file/registry wise.
