We have students sign off a sheet they get when they first join the school, we also used to have a window pop up with the AUP again as soon as they log in that they could close after a certain timeout (we've binned that this year though).

The easiest electronic signature method I can think of for this would be to give the students a PDF that they then must use Adobe Reader's "Sign Name" feature to sign off. They could probably do that in an ICT lesson etc..

yeah ive created a pdf that will email a copy to a mail box but my issue is we dont use email clients its all web based so people then get propted again about sending it in an email ect.. just trying to limit the amount of silly "i cant understand how to follow instructions" that we are all faced with

Bit of a longshot, but if you are already using something like PCE that presents a popup every time they login, you can have some (with reference to full doc) or all of the AUP here. That way they are agreeing to the AUP every time they login. I initially hated the popup, but once it was explained it terms of a reinforcement of the policies every time they used a computer I liked the idea.

PCE records the clicking of accept which has been useful in the past when a smart alec says they can't do their work because they don't agree with the AUP and we can say that they already agreed to it when they clicked on hh:mm dd/mm/yy
