ESM woes...

Hi,

At the college where I work, we have 2 sites, with online testing facilities at both. I'm trying to setup ESM on a new invigilator PC, I have installed it, checked the paths, made sure there's modify rights on the Server share, but when I run it I just get a message that the page localhost can't be found...

After hours of fruitless searching the internet I found a post on this forum about ESM so I decided to join, hoping someone here can help...

I don't know much about ESM, but if it's looking for localhost and unable to find it there are a few things that I can think of:

- Is port 80 open?

- Is IPv6 enabled (it probably shouldn't be in this case)?

- Is the firewall active and blocking port 80?

- Check the hosts file, there should be an entry for localhost on 127.0.0.1 in there.

when you get the error message localhost can't be found, where are you running it?

 

It should work using localhost on the server, but won't on a client - I abandoned our install about a year a go so can't check any more, but on the server in the administration console will be an option to configure the server name I think....
