Win 7 Enterprise hangs at Please wait for user profile service

So we upgraded our domain to windows server 2012R2 (DNS is on the 2 DC's), AD was removed from the windows 2003 servers. We also upgrade all client machines to windows 7 enterprise. On many of the PC's some user logins are hanging at the Please wait for user profile service screen for anywhere form 10-30 minutes. The clients are pointing to the correct dns servers, so what else could be going on. This happens with a mix of roaming and mandatory profiles. Any help would be appreciated.

I would create a Test OU and block inheritance. Move or create a user in that OU along with a test machine and test logon times. I'm guessing you have some old policies that are causing this.
