[sims] Autumn 2014 Census - Post 16 Results and Outcomes - are they needed?

Hi,

 

Silly question - but I have had conflicting information about this.

 

We still haven't sent our census in yet - and we are only generally stuck on getting the results to show in the learning aims panel.

 

I have read a few bits of information that state that - results and outcomes are no longer recorded?

 

Can anyone confirm this?

I was told that this was correct! Results do not need to be sent in the census any longer!

Results do not need to be sent in....BUT...

 

If the results are not there then it is a good chance the students are in the wrong course on Course Manager (BTEC Single instead of BTEC Triple for example). Even though they are not required, they are still a good checking tool. I suggest those students who don't have results appearing have their academic history run through with a fine tooth comb looking for errors. Completion Status is still required.

We have escalated a call with support with reference to the results not showing (it pulls in a result of U - but not a P)

 

The correct result does show for the student in Tools > Statutory Return Tools > Reconcile Post 16 Courses & Exam Results (this creates an excel spreadsheet with all relevant course and result information in) - and it does show the correct course and results.

 

We mainly just wanted to get the census sent in (as its getting very close to closing date) - and not having to fully complete results or outcomes will help.

I agree with @CAM - not having the results will have zero impact on your census return (check the data on COLLECT to confirm this); but if the results don't show, it could mean you're sending the wrong data in.

 

If you return a student as having learning aim X, and they actually certify on aim Y instead, I think that's identified as a failed learning aim. If a student has four aims, and fails one, that will cost your school 500 quid!
