CamelMan Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 We have a number of Sync and store trolley sets of Ipads - however we want to make them more available to staff. Currently the cases of 25 are too big & heavy for staff to move around up and down stairs (2 guys to carry a case up) so I suggested keeping the trollies to a floor and room swapping. However SMT want to find ways of moving the Ipads to the students. I dont like the idea of 25 little Johnnies carrying them up and downstairs (they are in protective cases though) or chucking 10 of them in a box for the staff to then carry back and fore to the classroom, but am open to ideas. How do you do it and any recommendations?

caffrey Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 We got some custom flight cases made up that hold 20 ipads each, still heavy though
bclarke Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 I have a set of 20 iPads for our music department which are in two Bretford carts which look like car roof boxes and another set of 20 in science and these are in tougher charging boxes. I kept the number in each cart low in an attempt to make them more portable but with the weight of the cart and 10 iPads it really makes them too heavy to move around the school easily. We also use them for report reading at the end of term and I need to distribute and collect 40 iPads to/from various parts of the school so I know first hand what it is like getting these things around. Frankly, boxes are good for storage, charging and security but not for mobility. We never send them out on field trips so a weather proof tough box is pointless and pricey. Usually for report reading time, I put them in to a shopping trolley, the type that has two wheels and a deep fabric case like this http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9011791.htm Don't laugh, I do get funny looks when I use it but it works and you can bump it up and down steps. It is still heavy, but not as heavy as the charging boxes. I have also seen this being used effectively http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kitchen-Organiser-Cleaning-Strong-Cleaners/dp/B009ZBW5WG and our science technician uses several trays to get them to the classrooms. If I were to get another set of iPads I would probably go for this http://griffintechnology.com/business/multidock and use one of the methods above to get them around the school.
