Office365 SharePoint 2013 Permissions with on-site AD

Just wondering if anybody has used SharePoint 2013 (Sites) with the Office365 package yet and how much of SharePoint you have developed?

 

We have two sites, one for 'Student Intranet' and 'Staff Intranet' now I can create the security group within Office365 and use that to apply permissions but I have to add individual users to the security group.

 

Is there a way to create a staff and student security group within active directory on-site and sync this with office365 like we do for user accounts?

How do you create your users?

 

If you use DirSync you can just add the groups to be sync'd from AD.

 

I do this for exchange distribution lists and Sharepoint permissions.

You can use security groups for distribution groups too, you just need to make sure they have an email address and a display name.

 

I only created distribution groups for groups I didn't already have security groups for. Keeps things simpler.
