Local Media server software

Our school wants to start broadcasting a "school news and announcement show" and wants the ability for for all computers in the building to watch it either live or stream it later. I want to do this on the local lan. What media server software do you recommend.

Another option which is quick and easy is using Youtube, you can now stream live using a unlisted private link.

Youtube also allows you to record the live stream, and you can then use unlisted private link to share throughout your school via your VLE, or Intranet.
