Alis_Klar Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Was trying to sync Zimbra 8 with the Native Mail client in OS X. Can't do it....Even though iOS can use ActiveSync. (not Link2ICT's fault this time) Although if they updated from Zimbra 8 to 8.5 you could use Exchange Web Services. Found the Answer here https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5560159 "OS X does not use ActiveSync. It uses Exchange Web Services. ActiveSync is a mobile-ONLY protocol. It's supported on iOS, but not on OS X. Microsoft doesn't license the protocol for use on desktop operating systems." Zimbra 8.5 adds support for Exchange Web Services. I assume there are no plans to upgrade Zimbra 8 to 8.5? Zimbra Collaboration 8.5: Anytime, Anywhere, Any Device :: Zimbra :: Blog "Exchange Web Services: The latest release adds new Exchange Web Services (EWS) support, enabling all mail, contacts, tasks and calendar functionality in Outlook for Mac. Administrators can add Outlook for Mac to the list of supported clients for BYOD environments, and users get to choose whatever Mac desktop client they prefer." I will attempt to configure using IMAP.
Michael Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Is there any reason why you're not looking at Office 365? This'll solve all your issues and give a lot more flexibility in terms of management and how your users access e-mail. Link2ICT I believe have only deployed it to a handful of schools, whereas I've been using it in Birmingham schools (the oldest) being over 6 years now. There's really no reason not to use it.
