Please Help,

 

I am struggling to get onto the web application for our HP printer. The model number is HP Colour Laserjet CM6040. Have it installed but want to use the web app for it

Is the printer networked? If so did you give it a static IP? Are you able to access that IP on your computer?

 

You should be able to type the IP into the address bar of a web browser and it should bring up the web interface of the printer.

Yep, this. If you didn't give it a static IP and it's done by DHCP instead you can print off the networking page automatically either through a menu or through some series of key presses (you'll have to Google your particular model) although if it has its own screen/menus then you'll likely find the IP in there if you check the settings. After that, just navigate to the IP address from any browser on a machine that's on the same VLAN.

 

AFAIK if it's done over USB you can't get to those pages, though I may be wrong.

Yes the printer is networked and it has a static IP address. I do type the IP address into the address bar and get nothing. very strange, driving me mad!

Ping it to make sure it's responding, would be the first port of call.

 

You're definitely navigating to it from a machine on the same VLAN? (I've fallen afoul of that more times than I care to admit :()

 

It's definitely a model that has a web interface?
