Bit long winded, but here we go

Last week, when I wasnt working, one of the teachers noticed that she could not use Powerpoint interactively -using Smart notebook. She may never have been able to.

SO - the dep head tried to reinstall the software over the top and it failed

He tried uninstalling the software and it wouldnt and then it wouldnt work at all

I get handed the problem

I tried system restore but the software still wouldnt work properly

I couldnt uninstall it using add/remove progs either, it just sat there so now I have deleted all refs to smart on the laptop - the prog files, windows, registry the lot. There are no refs anywhere.

BUT if I try to install the software -either the latest version of the website or an earlier one off an old disc, it gets to the install and then stops, saying that the prog has been interupted and nothing has been modified

SO the teacher has no smart software at all

HELP

The error log doesnt help

I have never been able to use the cleanup tool properly in the past so tend to just reimage the machine in question now as it is quicker and a lot less painful than trying to fix it.

This is a teacher's laptop and we have no image for it - that ain't the way we do things here, unfortunately

So with that not an option....any ideas?

I had a similar problem a while back on a teachers laptop - If i remember rightly i deleted every reg entry and bit of software with it (as you have) and then ran the registry scan and disk cleanup on ccleaner - seemed to pick up a few more entries.

after a restart it let me install
