Mr_Jiminy Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Quick query re the process of signing up to the Apple VPP? I already have an Apple ID... However I'm uncertain as to whether I need to create a new Apple ID when initially signing up to the VPP.
Bigbird7 Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Definitely need a new ID. I seem to recall that you actually need 2, one for the admin and be for the user. 1
AdamzB Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 IIRC it's handy to have a 3rd for downloading Apps via iTunes for configurator.
Mr_Jiminy Posted October 1, 2014 Author Posted October 1, 2014 IIRC it's handy to have a 3rd for downloading Apps via iTunes for configurator. Ah that makes sense, I already have this... So I download the pay apps using iTunes, then redeem using Configurator?
AdamzB Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Yep Purchase via VPP, Import codes in to Configurator. Download the App once using one of the codes. Add this App to Configurator and then claim the code back and reuse. Nice and simple Ha! 1
Mr_Jiminy Posted October 3, 2014 Author Posted October 3, 2014 Thanks folks One last query... I take I need to select Redeemable Codes? Redeemable Codes: Download a spreadsheet containing redeemable codes which you can then provide to your users. Ownership of the app or book is given to the Apple ID that redeems the code. Codes will only be redeemable in the UK store. anaged Distribution: Assign apps to users on iOS 7 or later or on OS X 10.9 or later using a Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution, such as the latest version of Apple Profile Manager. You retain ownership of apps only, allowing you to revoke and reassign them as needed
Bigbird7 Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 It depends on how the iPads are used. If they are for a class set controlled through configurator then you need redeemable codes. If they are personal devices managed distribution through an MDM is better as you retain ownership of the licence
