CC4 And Microlibrarian

Had an issue where microlibrarian just stopped working with IE, when you loaded the page it just sits there with a black screen as if the silverlight plugin hasn't loaded. It worked fine in Chrome so the librarian just used that but now they want to use the identikit which uses an IE plugin so i need to get it working again. I have come to the conclusion that it is either a Windows update or one of our packages that has borked the silverlight plugin but was so long ago i cant pin point what was changed on the network to have caused it. Anyone else had the same issue or similar? Otherwise i'll have a long time of de-allocating packages and updates one by one to find the issue!

We have had very slow response time in IE since the summer. Then spotted this. Resolved our issues. Might not be connected, but worth a try.

May be worth a try but i am inclined to think it is package as it works on my machine as an admin which just has different packages on.

Have you tried just doing a local install of Silverlight on that machine? Just do it over the top of the packaged version.

I have done a completely clean build with no silverlight on and then installed manually and i get the issue. My machine has the same version of IE and silverlight and works without issue.

In the top left of the black window do you see a Install Microsoft Silverlight button? That's all we see with IE, tried a local install of Silverlight, reinstalling etc but no luck. Micro Librarian weren't helpful at all either.

No install silverlight button, its just a black screen. If you right click though it comes up with the silverlight properties box so you can access the control panel, almost as if it is just not displaying the plugin properly. I have been on silverlight test sites which all say that it is working fine.

When i phoned the support it took 3 days to get back to me and i was basically told its a problem with your system, you sort it out.

What version of IE are you running on CC4? Have you tried a different version or tried putting the site into compatibility view?

After some testing it seems to to our internet explorer 10 package, havent had time to try a manual install yet with either 10 or 11 or to add the packages back on that i had taken off but this is how it looks.

Hmm, even a manual install of IE 10 or 11 still doesn't work yet IE9 is still working fine. Will try a fresh build and go straight to 11 from 9 as this one has had quite a lot of files added and removed during the testing.

You want it to work in a modern browser? Good luck with that...

 

Shame to see MLS's support (assuming they didn't actually give you any clues) hasn't improved despite promises.

I will be a happy man when I can convince the powers that be that it is barely fit for purpose.
