[sims] Course Manager and BTEC Renames

OK, I may have royally messed up course manager. Aside from our levels being incorrect (and now I have to manually fix that) I also have a problem with the new BTEC level names.

 

Example, I have a student who did a Triple Business BTEC. Formerly this was a Diploma Level 3 (BTDi3) but the new name it is an Extended Diploma (BTXD3). So I have set up a new BTXD3 course and populated it with this year's students, giving it the same QAN number as BTDi3 from last year. I need to use BTDi3 for our double BTEC students.

 

Now I have students on the census saying they did BTDi3 from Sept 2013 to last day of term in Jul 2014 as Completed, and BTXD3 this year from Sept 2014 to Jul 2015 as continuing. Is this normal?

 

Add in the mess I made with course levels and I am tearing my hair out!

Morning CAM,

 

Course Manager is a pig, especially if the timetabler doesn't get the levels right at the initial push of the timetable from NT6 (luckily I am the Timetabler, Network Manager and Academic Manager all in one), what you will have to do, and it is really annoying is go to all the students that started the course in 2013 and remove them from the old course and add them to the new one. You also need to protect the new ones from changes with the protect tick. You may also want to remove the auto class and membership ticks from all the old courses.
