Right doing some research for someone want to know is central place/list of procedures (mainly related to mis systems) that schools have to follow. An example "studentes leaving do ctf file". It doesn't have to have be detail just a list of things that should/must be following..

Sorry no help but I think that comes under "would be nice we'll do it one day.." At my previous place I kept suggesting we do that, get down on paper work flows across the school and then get departments to start mapping their own work flows. I kept being told that I was being impractical and the school isn't a business so they don't have time for that kind of thing.

My thinking was if you have a document like that everyone knows who information goes to and in what format. What then happens is up to that person/department but they know who they need to pass the info on to and in what format. If someone doesn't follow the work flow then they are problem & need a kicking. If the workflow is followed & the process isn't working then it is easily traceable and can then be fixed by adjusting the process. The whole thing could be black boxed at any level or at any department, kind of like documenting APIs for a school or department, and everyone would know where they stood.

Good luck if you manage it.

I've been working on something like this at my school for quite a while now. It's very much a non-trivial task!

Throw in a couple of job role changes and slight restructures, and it's on about it's fifth or sixth iteration now. I'm expecting to change it during (and as a result of) the current one.

There are a few tasks that apply generally to all schools, but so much of it is dependent on your business processes that it's hard to translate it into another school from scratch.

Good luck!
